Spark Plugs

Spark Plugs
Spark Plugs

Genuine Toyota Spark Plugs are designed to maintain optimum vehicle performance and durability. Toyota offers many different types of spark plugs designed specifically for your Toyota vehicle.

Always use the right spark plug for your Toyota - the wrong spark plug can negatively impact fuel economy and overall performance.
U-Groove Spark Plugs

This spark plug features a special groove in the middle of the ground electrode. Before the spark plug fires, the U-Groove traps the fuel-air mixture, then produces a large spark for efficient combustion and reduced fouling. U-Groove spark plugs meet original equipment replacement intervals, comply with the original specifications on your Toyota, and offer strong throttle response and smooth idle.
Dual-Ground Electrode Spark Plugs

Select Toyota models feature the Toyota Direct Ignition System (TDI), which enables spark plugs to fire twice as often. The system, introduced in 1994, creates a more efficient and cost-effective engine. Dual-Ground Electrode Spark Plugs feature a special design that delivers optimum performance and durability while maintaining the original recommended change interval.
Double Platinum Spark Plugs

Genuine Toyota Double Platinum Spark Plugs are recommended for select Toyota models, and feature several benefits:

* Platinum on the center electrode and ground electrode reduce wear while providing a long service life of up to 60,000 miles.
* The raised design provides excellent ignitability for a strong spark, translating into a smooth idle and strong performance.
* Nickel and iridium are added to the platinum, resulting in an alloy that helps make the Genuine Toyota Double Platinum Spark Plug strong and durable while helping to prevent cracking.

Iridium Spark Plugs

Toyota recommends Iridium spark plugs for select Toyota models for the following reasons:

* A smaller center electrode promotes higher performance.
* Iridium is a more durable than platinum with a melting point that’s approximately 1,200° F higher.
* They last longer than conventional spark plugs. (Up to 110,000 miles.)

Wiper Inserts

Wiper Inserts
Wiper Inserts

Genuine Toyota Wiper Inserts are exposed to harsh elements and may need to be replaced every six (6) months or 6,000 miles (whichever comes first). Genuine Toyota Wiper Inserts are inexpensive and provide optimum wiping performance for enhanced visibility and safety.

Wiper inserts may all look alike, but they don't all work alike. Many people don't realize they need new wipers until it starts raining and they have to drive in dangerous conditions with poor visibility. Toyota recommends that wiper inserts be replaced every six (6) months or 6,000 miles, whichever comes first. Genuine Toyota Wiper Inserts are made specifically for Toyota models using natural compression-molded rubber for optimum wiping performance and enhanced visibility.

Wiper Blades

Wiper Blades
Wiper Blades

You can't drive safely if you can't see the road properly. Your vehicle's wiper blades are the key to good road visibility. Even if you're fortunate enough to live in an area where the weather is generally good, wiper blades need to be replaced at least every six months or 6,000 miles. The reason is that environmental elements such as sunlight, ozone, and road film eventually weaken your wiper blades' performance by deteriorating the rubber.
Genuine Toyota for Your Toyota

Genuine Toyota Wiper Blades are made using natural compression-molded rubber and the very best metallic components. And they're designed for your specific Toyota model for the best possible fit and performance. When it’s time to replace your wiper blades, make sure you choose Genuine Toyota Wiper Blades.

Collision Parts

Collision Parts
Collision Parts

To maintain the appearance, performance, and safety of your Toyota, it's important to make sure it’s repaired only with Genuine Toyota Parts. Some repair shops and insurance companies may suggest using imitation or used salvage parts to save money, but these parts may not meet Toyota's high standards for quality, fit, and corrosion resistance. What’s more, they are not covered by any Toyota warranty. Maintain the value of your Toyota by insisting on the use of Genuine Toyota Parts.
In Case of Accident, Be an Informed Owner

You have the right to choose the types of parts used in the repair of your vehicles. That's why Toyota supports full disclosure by repair shops and insurance companies regarding parts used for collision repair. The following information is provided to help you understand the differences in the types of parts that could be used in the repair of your vehicle.
General Information

"Collision repair parts" or "replacement crash parts" are the parts typically replaced during the repair of a vehicle damaged in a collision. These parts include exterior sheet metal such as fenders, hoods, doors, and related components, as well as plastic components such as bumper covers and lamp assemblies.
Warranty Coverage

Warranties for collision repair parts are provided by the manufacturer or distributor of those parts. Warranty coverage varies. Your insurance company or collision repair facility should provide you with written warranty statements for all parts used in the repair of your vehicle.

Types of Collision Repair Parts include:

New Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM): Parts made by the vehicle manufacturer or one of its licensees and distributed through its normal channels. These parts maintain the manufacturer's vehicle warranty.

Aftermarket or imitation: Parts made by companies other than the vehicle manufacturer or its licensees.

Recycled or used salvage: Used parts and assemblies that have been removed from other vehicles. There are no systems in place to regulate the quality or safety of these parts.

Remanufactured: Parts that have been returned to like-new condition through repair, refurbishing or rebuilding.

Due to the critical nature of Supplemental Restraint Systems (also known as air bags), Toyota does not support the use of imitation or used parts for their repair. Only new Genuine Toyota Parts should be used to repair or replace Supplemental Restraint Systems.

When it’s time to replace your battery, get your Toyota service technician to install a new TrueStart™ or True2™ battery, manufactured to Toyota's exacting standards for quality and performance.
The Truth About Car Batteries

You've probably seen battery ads touting the benefits of expanded warranties and high Cold Cranking Amps (CCAs). Often, these features are mistakenly equated with superior quality. What you may not know, is that high CCAs can mean minimal Reserve Capacity (RC), which can negatively affect battery performance and longevity. TrueStartT and True2T batteries provide the right combination of CCAs and RC approved by the Toyota engineers who designed your vehicle.

Toyota Driver’s Tips – Beyond the Oil Change

Toyota Driver’s Tips – Beyond the Oil Change

Your Toyota is designed to be reliable and provide long-lasting vehicle performance. However, there are things you can do to make your Toyota perform even better, especially in light of rising gas prices.

Maximize Your Mileage

* When you drive a little faster, you burn considerably more fuel. Slow down and increase your Toyota’s fuel efficiency.
* Once you’re out on the highway at cruising speed, use your vehicle’s cruise control. You’ll burn less fuel if you do.
* Slow down for hills. Maintaining your speed up a hill means opening your vehicle’s throttle, which burns more gas. On down hills, use gravity to help increase speed and improve fuel economy.
* Accelerate only when you have to, and only as much as you need to. Avoid jackrabbit starts, bring your Toyota to speed with a light right foot, and maintain smooth progress on the road.
* For slowing down or stopping, get off the gas as soon as you can. Use your brakes when you need to, but allow the other forces working on your vehicle to help slow you down.
* Whenever you can, keep your windows closed to decrease drag. For climate control, use your vehicle’s air conditioning. It’s the lesser of two evils.
* Roof racks and rooftop containers have extremely negative effects on a vehicle’s fuel efficiency. Remove them when not in use.

Enhance Your Ownership Experience

* The most important thing you can do to keep your vehicle running well is to change the engine oil on schedule. And remember to use the proper grade motor oil and a genuine Toyota oil filter.
* Make sure to replace worn out wiper blades to ensure a clear view of the road under all conditions.
* Being able to stop your vehicle is a critical part of driving. Inspect your brakes at regular intervals according to your Toyota's recommended maintenance schedules.
* Your battery should be checked periodically to ensure you've got the power necessary to start your Toyota under any circumstance.
* Keep an eye on tire pressure - losing just a few pounds of pressure in your tires can hurt fuel economy and shorten tire life significantly.
* Be aware that the stop-and-go nature of urban and suburban driving is harder on your vehicle than steady long-distance driving.
* Read your owner's manual. It will tell you everything you need to know about your vehicle including maintenance intervals.

Check your vehicle's Scheduled Maintenance Guide.

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, Feb. 25

, feb.25(UPI) -- Nine people were killed and six critically injured Wednesday when a Turkish passenger jet crashed at Amsterdam's main airport, authorities said.

Dutch aviation officials said a with 127 passengers and seven crew members aboard crash-landed in a field at Schiphol International Airport, breaking into three pieces upon impact, CNN reported. Most of the injured were Turkish, officials said.

Another 78 passengers suffered injuries, 25 seriously hurt, with both crew and passengers among the victims, Assistant Amsterdam Mayor Michel Bezuijen told the BBC, adding it was still too early in the investigation to speculate on a cause for the crash.

The flight had originated in Istanbul's Ataturk Airport.

A passenger told NTV Turkey that most of the injured were gathered in the rear section of the plane, the area that sustained the most damage, while other passengers said some of them simply walked off the plane through the cracks in the fuselage.

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board said it was sending a team of investigators to Amsterdam to assist in the investigation of the crash. NTSB Acting Chairman Mark Rosenker designated senior air safety investigator Joe Sedor as the U.S. accredited representative.

Toyota Announces Third Quarter Financial Result

Toyota Announces Third Quarter Financial Results
(All consolidated financial information has been prepared in accordance with
accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America)
Tokyo — TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) today announced financial results for the third quarter ended December 31, 2008.

On a consolidated basis, net revenues for the third quarter totaled 4.8 trillion yen, a decrease of 28.4 percent compared to the same period last fiscal year. Operating income decreased from 601.5 billion yen to a loss of 360.6 billion yen, while income before income taxes, minority interest and equity in earnings of affiliated companies was a loss of 282.1 billion yen. Net income decreased from 458.6 billion yen to a loss of 164.7 billion yen.

Operating income decreased by 962.1 billion yen. Negative factors for the decline include 560 billion yen due to the effects of marketing activities and 250 billion yen due to the appreciation of the Japanese yen against the U.S. dollar and the euro.

Commenting on the results, TMC Executive Vice President Mitsuo Kinoshita said, "Both revenues and profits declined severely during this period. The negative results are largely due to lower vehicle sales volume under difficult market conditions mainly in the U.S. and Europe, and the rapid appreciation of the yen against the U.S. dollar and the euro."

Consolidated vehicle sales for the third quarter amounted to 1.84 million units, a decrease of 443 thousand units compared to the same period last fiscal year.

In Japan, vehicle sales were 465 thousand units, a decrease of 76 thousand units. Operating income decreased by 553.6 billion yen, to a loss of 164.2 billion yen, mainly due to the appreciation of the yen against the U.S. dollar.

In North America, vehicle sales were 521 thousand units, a decrease of 235 thousand units. Operating income decreased by 311 billion yen to a loss of 247.4 billion yen including 119.6 billion yen of valuation losses from interest rate swaps. Operating income, excluding the impact of valuation losses on interest rate swaps, decreased by 217.4 billion yen, to a loss of 127.8 billion yen, mainly due to a sharp fall in vehicle sales.

In Europe, vehicles sales were 235 thousand units, a decrease of 73 thousand units. As a result, operating income decreased by 77.4 billion yen, to a loss of 43.4 billion yen.

In Asia, vehicle sales were 222 thousand units, a decrease of 19 thousand units. Operating income decreased by 23.8 billion yen, to 40.5 billion yen.

In Central and South America, Oceania, Africa and the Middle East etc., vehicle sales were 395 thousand units, a decrease of 40 thousand units. Operating income for Central and South America, Oceania and Africa decreased by 16.4 billion yen to 33.5 billion yen.

In the financial services segment, operating income decreased by 144.8 billion yen, to a loss of 123.9 billion yen compared to the same period last fiscal year including 111.2 billion yen of valuation losses from interest rate swaps. Excluding valuation losses, operating income decreased by 50.1 billion yen. The decline was mainly due to the increase in allowance for credit and residual value losses in the U.S. despite the contribution of the increase in outstanding loan balance and the improvement in our lending margin.

TMC estimates that consolidated vehicle sales for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2009 will be 7.32 million units, which is a decrease of 220 thousand units from TMC's forecast announced in December 2008. Consolidated net revenues and earnings forecasts for the fiscal year have also been revised, to consolidated net revenues of 21 trillion yen, operating loss of 450 billion yen, negative income before income taxes, minority interest and equity in earnings of affiliated companies of 500 billion yen and net loss of 350 billion yen.

Commenting on the forecasts for FY2009, Kinoshita said, "Due to the severe automotive market situation, we have revised our forecast for FY2009." Kinoshita also commented on the ongoing profit improvement activities, "As we announced last November, we have been operating under the newly established "Emergency Profit Improvement Committee". To accelerate our activities further with the aim of reforming our earning structure as swiftly as possible, we will focus more on how we can maximize revenues, by developing a new product line-up that responds to the customers' requirements in each region. For the mid-term, we plan to enhance the development of hybrid and compact vehicles which we believe are the key to our future growth. For example, our new generation Prius will launch in May, followed by Lexus' first exclusive hybrid vehicle, the HS250h this summer. We are also thoroughly reviewing our entire business to reduce costs across the board. We are aiming to implement a more effective cost structure in the areas of research & development, production and sales operations. Specifically, we plan to expand the scope of our emergency value analysis to achieve further cost reduction and reduce fixed costs by 10%. By taking these measures, we will overcome the current crisis and evolve into a company with a higher level of efficiency and resilience."

Toyota to Join Public ITS Tests in Tokyo

Toyota to Join Public ITS Tests in Tokyo
— Vehicle-infrastructure Communications Aimed at Reducing Accidents —
Tokyo — TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announces it will demonstrate its vehicle-infrastructure cooperative systems on public roads in Tokyo from February 25 to 28 in a joint intelligent transport systems (ITS) verification effort sponsored by Japan's private-public ITS Promotion Council.

Vehicle-infrastructure cooperative systems are intended to reduce the number of traffic accidents by exchanging information between vehicles and roadside communications infrastructure, and among vehicles. As part of "ITS-Safety 2010"*1, which aims to achieve the practical application of such systems by the end of March 2011*2, TMC will use seven vehicles to demonstrate road-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-vehicle information-exchange technologies. Five units of the Lexus "LS460" will be used to demonstrate such technologies on roads in the Odaiba urban development area on the Tokyo waterfront and on the expressway servicing it, while one Lexus LS460 and a Toyota "Crown Hybrid" will demonstrate Radar Cruise Control with All-speed Tracking and Intelligent Parking Assist (with parking-space recognition) next to the area's National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation.

The systems to be demonstrated include those designed to prevent collisions during turns, to prevent the running of red lights, to warn of approaching emergency vehicles and to provide information on obstacles ahead.

Additionally, Megaweb—TMC's interactive vehicle display facility in Odaiba—is exhibiting, through March 30, TMC initiatives toward achieving practical application of vehicle-infrastructure cooperative systems.

Development of ITS vehicle-infrastructure cooperative systems, along with development and application of autonomous onboard safety devices, represents part of TMC's efforts to make driving safer. These efforts are based on TMC's "Integrated Safety Management Concept", which aims to provide optimal driving support through a combination of integrated onboard technologies and infrastructure-respondent systems.

*1 A project that uses public-private large-scale, on-road verification tests to present, as well as allow the public to experience, ITS technologies. The tests are aimed at verifying the effectiveness of ITS services and systems and quantitatively evaluate their level of contribution to reducing the number of traffic accidents; they are conducted on public roads. Tests in the Tokyo metropolitan area began in January 2009. Regional tests covering eight cities, prefectures and regions, began in April 2008. The aim of the project is to achieve practical application of vehicle-infrastructure cooperative systems—based on the New IT Reform Strategy formulated by the Japanese government's IT Strategic Headquarters in January 2006—by the end of March 2011.

*2 The end of the April-March fiscal year.

WIN ONE FOR CAMRY: A Toyota Camry won for the first time in NASCAR competition on Saturday night (July 28) at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis. Jason Leffler moved his No. 38 Great Clips Camry into the lead only three laps remaining and led the field all the way to the checkered flag. The inaugural win for the Camry in NASCAR competition came in the 22nd Busch Series race of the 35-race season.

JASON JOVIAL WITH WIN: "It's pretty awesome to be the first one to bring a Camry to victory lane," said Leffler, following Saturday night's win. "I just can't say enough about our whole team at Braun Racing and what it means to us to get Toyota their first win in the Busch Series. It's also pretty cool to come here and win in Indy because I've won quite a few Midget and Silver Crown races here at ORP (O'Reilly Raceway Park). I've always considered Indianapolis to be like my second home -- I've spent a lot of time here and I have a lot of friends here."

WHITE ON THE WIN: "I think we honestly expected at some point we'd get a Busch Series victory this year," says Lee White, senior vice president and general manager, TRD, U.S.A. (Toyota Racing Development). "If you consider how well the Busch Camrys have run all season -- with three cars in the top-seven in points -- you would expect a victory before the end of the year. You saw all three Camrys in the top-10 pretty much all night in Indy, which overall, was a very good performance. I think it was great for the whole program. I'm so proud of the complete Braun organization. They run such a small, tight-knit program, and they consistently run strong race after race."

HISTORY HERE AT POCONO: When the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series (NNCS) visited the 2.5-mile Pocono Raceway in June, it was the first trip to the track located in the Pennsylvania mountains for the Toyota Camrys. Four of the seven Camrys qualified for the 43-car field, including Brian Vickers (No. 83 Red Bull Camry), David Reutimann (No. 00 Burger King Camry), AJ Allmendinger (No. 84 Red Bull Camry) and Dave Blaney (No. 22 Caterpillar Camry). Vickers completed all 106 laps in the rain-shortened race and was the top-finishing Toyota (35th).

BRIAN TALKS ABOUT BEING BACK: Vickers earned his best starting position of the season with his Team Red Bull Camry when he started ninth at Pocono in June. "Pocono is the first race track that we're going back to for a second time where both of our cars made it into the race, and that's a confidence boost for the whole team," says Vickers. "We qualified into the race before -- we should be able to do it again. We even had our best qualifying run of the year at Pocono. I don't think we'll have too many changes to make to our qualifying set-up, but we need to work on our race set-up because we really struggled with our car when it came time to race."

RETURN ENGAGEMENT: "Pocono is the first track this season that we go to for a second time where we made the first race, so hopefully that will help us get back on track," says Allmendinger. "It's also the first track we revisit where both Red Bull cars raced last time. I'll have more confidence going into this weekend mainly because I have turned laps here in practice and in a race, and will know what to expect when I show up for practice Friday morning."

TAKING A TOP-10: Blaney earned his first top-10 of the season and recorded a career-best finish at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) in Sunday's Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. Blaney finished ninth in the No. 22 Caterpillar Camry after starting 27th and running within the top-10 throughout the race. Camry drivers have earned four top-10 finishes this season in NEXTEL Cup competition, including one top-five finish by Vickers at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte.

CLOSE TO COMFORTABLE: With his ninth-place finish at IMS, Blaney was able to move his way into the 36th position in NASCAR owner points -- placing him only one position away from the coveted 35th position -- which would give him a guaranteed starting position in the next race.

BLANEY ON POINTS: "It would be a huge load off our shoulders to be locked into the field," says Blaney. "But, of course once you're in the to-35, you have to work on staying there. With the way we've been running, I've been very pleased. I think if we can just stay out of trouble and keep running like we have been -- then we will be just fine."

WALTRIP'S VIEW ON SECOND HALF: "In the second half of the season, we just need to make all the races," says Waltrip, driver of the No. 55 NAPA Camry. "David (Reutimann) ran good at Chicago and I ran good at Michigan -- so there's optimism galore that if we can make the races then we can run well. There's really not one race track that we feel we will have more of an advantage than another. We've struggled on our COT (Car of Tomorrow) program in the early races. But, we had a good test the other day in Winchester, Indiana in preparation for the Bristol race. We're wide open and we're doing everything you're supposed to do. We're wind tunneling, we're seven-posting and we're on-tracking."

ROAD RACING RETURNS: This week's road race at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada will mark the second time this season the NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) will take to a road course and the first visit to Canada for the series. The NBS racers competed at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez road course in Mexico City earlier this year. Leffler (sixth) was the highest finishing Camry in Mexico, while Reutimann (12th) and Blaney (13th) both registered top-15 finishes.

MORE ON MONTREAL: "I'm really looking forward to running the road course in Canada," says Leffler. "We normally only get to run two road races in a season. This year we're running two in a row with Montreal and Watkins Glen -- and I've only run three road races in my whole career. We had a good run in Mexico earlier this year so I'm real excited to get to run two in a row because I know I'll learn a lot and hopefully get better over those two weeks."

REUTIMANN ON TURNING RIGHT: "This will only be the second time that I've ever run a race on a road course," says Reutimann, driver of the No. 99 NAPA Canada Camry. "Running in Mexico City was quite a learning experience for me and I was almost impressed that I was able to finish 12th in that race. I'm looking forward to another shot at the road course this weekend. Then I get to run the Busch car at Watkins Glen, so having the chance to run two in a row should help quite a bit."

CANADIAN CONNECTION: John Graham will make his first NBS start of 2007 in the No. 10 Kick-Butt Energy Ballz Camry for Braun Racing at Montreal as a substitute for Dave Blaney. Graham is a native of Toronto, Canada with extensive professional road racing experience around the world. He has made seven starts in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and nine starts in the 24 Hours of Daytona, in addition to four oval track starts in the Busch Series in 2004. Graham is also scheduled to race the No. 10 Camry next weekend at Watkins Glen.

CHAMPIONSHIP CHASERS: Following Saturday night's NBS race at O'Reilly Raceway Park, Reutimann remains second in the championship point standings. After his Indianapolis win, Leffler now sits third in the standings, while Blaney fell to the seventh in the standings after not competing in Saturday night's race.

SMOOTHER SURFACE: Several NBS and NCTS teams participated in last week's test session at Bristol Motor Speedway in preparation for next month's races on a brand new concrete surface. The half-mile track completed a four-month resurfacing project and several Camrys and Tundras made the trip over the North Carolina mountains to try out the new, smoother surface. Trucks took to the track on Monday with Tundra drivers recording four of the top-five testing speeds. The Busch cars were on track Tuesday with Reutimann posting the fastest speed and Leffler within the top-10.

GREEN TESTS SURFACE: "The new surface is going to provide two good lanes of racing," said David Green, driver of the No. 1 Red Horse Racing Tundra. "I think two-and-a-half lanes of racing at Bristol is like three lanes everywhere else. We're definitely going to see side-by-side racing. The only issue is that since the track is so new, that there won't be much rubber down when we race Wednesday night. The track will be at its best Saturday night for the Cup cars. What a fantastic job they did with the whole track. I think it's very hard to pour concrete and be smooth when it's flat. To put nearly 30 degrees of banking in a track and be smooth, it's even tougher. They did a great job."

TUNDRAS TOPS: After 14 of 25 races, five Tundra drivers currently sit in the top-eight in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) championship point standings. Mike Skinner remains in control of the point standings, but now only holds onto the top spot by 77 points over Ron Hornaday. He is being chased by fellow Tundra drivers Todd Bodine (third), Johnny Benson (fifth), Jack Sprague (seventh) and Ted Musgrave (eighth) as the series enjoys a weekend off before heading to Nashville Superspeedway for the Toyota Tundra 200, August 11.

ARCA ADDITIONS: Two Camrys will compete in Saturday's Pennsylvania 200 ARCA RE/MAX Series race at Pocono Raceway. Josh Wise, who finished tenth when the series visited Pocono in June, will compete in the No. 22 ESR Development Camry for Eddie Sharp Racing. Bobby Santos will be behind the wheel of the No. 02 Bill Davis Trucking Camry for Bill Davis Racing.

HAPPY 50th: Toyota is celebrating its 50th anniversary in the U.S. in 2007 and operates 10 manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and assembles approximately half the vehicles it sells in America. In addition, Toyota, its dealers and manufacturing plants employ close to 150,000 individuals in the U.S.

BROADCAST BITS: The NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race will be televised on ESPN and broadcast on MRN Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio (Channel 128). NEXTEL Cup qualifying will be televised on ESPN2, and broadcast on MRN Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio (Channel 128). BLANEY THIRD IN CAMRY, BODINE WINS IN TUNDRA AT TALLADEGA Win,

BLANEY THIRD IN CAMRY, BODINE WINS IN TUNDRA AT TALLADEGA Win, Poles and Season-Best NNCS Finish Highlight Wonderful Weekend for Toyota

TALLADEGA, Ala. (October 7, 2007) - In Sunday's NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race, Dave Blaney matched a career-best result and scored Toyota's best finish in NNCS competition Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway, crossing the finish line third in the No. 22 Caterpillar Camry for Bill Davis Racing.

Blaney started second and led one lap on the 2.66-mile Alabama circuit, running among the leaders throughout the 188-lap, 500-mile race, picking the right drafting partners late in the race to move to the front.

"We had a good race," said Blaney. "Our first goal was to get back in the top-35 in points, so I had to take care of the car all day. I didn't want to do anything to put it in harm's way. I just got with the right group of cars there at the end. I could've easily run 23rd with that car, but here, it's all about the group you're with."

The third-place finish for Blaney is the best result for a Camry in Cup Series racing, topping a fifth-place run by Brian Vickers at Lowe's Motor Speedway in May. Blaney also finished third at Darlington in 2003.

Blaney's finish - coupled with a 31st-place finish by Ken Schrader's No. 21 machine - moves the No. 22 Camry into 35th place in NNCS owner standings, guaranteeing the team a spot in the field next weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte.

Jacques Villeneuve finished 21st in the No. 27 Unicef Camry for Bill Davis Racing, in his first-career NNCS start. An early brush with the wall forced Villeneuve to the pits for repairs, but the 1997 Formula One champion rebounded and finished on the lead lap.

David Reutimann finished 22nd in the No. 00 Burger King Camry, but had a faster car than his finish indicates. Reutimann was collected in an 11-car incident on lap 144 while running with the lead group, when Bobby Labonte went spinning across the track's frontstretch. Vickers - who led eight laps - was also caught up in the incident, finishing 39th.

Michael Waltrip (six laps led) also had a strong car Sunday before a late-race flat tire sent him into the wall, relegating the No. 55 NAPA Camry to a 25th-place finish. Dale Jarrett finished 41st in the No. 44 UPS Camry.

Camry drivers led a total of 17 laps Sunday, with Blaney, Vickers, Waltrip and Reutimann (two laps led) all spending time at the front of the field.

Waltrip started on the pole in the No. 55 Camry, the fourth pole of his NNCS career and second for Toyota since joining NNCS competition at the beginning of the 2007 season. Blaney started on the pole at New Hampshire in July.

Five Camrys started among the first six cars with Waltrip and Blaney sharing the front row; Vickers (third) and Reutimann (fifth) posting their best qualifying efforts of the season; and Villeneuve qualifying sixth.

The next race on the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series schedule is October 13 at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte.

In Saturday's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race, Todd Bodine started from the pole and led twice for a race-high 46 laps in the No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Tundra en route to his second victory of the season - and 10th for Toyota - in the 88-lap Mountain Dew 250.

A late-race caution yielded a two-lap shootout in which Bodine made his No. 30 Tundra as wide as he could, holding off Rick Crawford and Johnny Benson to the checkered flag to win by a slim 0.014-second margin.

"I can't believe it," said Bodine, following the race. "I have run so many races here and have been in the same situation in the end and never got it done. I always got shuffled out or something happened. We just had a great truck. To win the pole and to win the race shows how great these guys on the team are. I'm the lucky guy that drives it."

Bodine's first victory of the season - also from the pole - came at Texas Motor Speedway in June.

The win (35th) and pole (46th) for Toyota came in just its 95th race since joining NCTS competition at the beginning of the 2004 season.

Benson wound up third in the No. 23 TCUV Tundra for Bill Davis Racing, followed by Jason Leffler in the No. 1 Red Horse Racing Tundra. It was Leffler's first NCTS start since 2004.

Benson narrowly escaped trouble on Lap 75, when he made contact with then-leader Jack Sprague's No. 60 Con-way Freight Tundra, which had slowed on the frontstretch. Sprague, who led four times for 30 laps, went spinning into the oncoming traffic, collecting a handful of fast trucks, setting up the late-race drama.

In addition to Sprague - who wound up 27th - Tundra drivers Ted Musgrave (25th) and Terry Cook (28th) were caught up in the incident.

Mike Skinner (nine laps led) finished 13th in the No. 5 Toyota Tundra, in what could have been a feast or famine race for the Bill Davis Racing team. Running third late in the race, a loose hood pin caused the hood to flap violently on the No. 5 Tundra, forcing NASCAR to 'black flag' Skinner, which would have caused him to lose the lead pack and struggle to finish on the lead lap. A separate incident on the track, however, allowed Skinner to come to pit road for repairs under caution, enabling him to salvage a top-15 finish.

Ron Hornaday finished seventh, retaking the points lead from Skinner by a 14-point margin with five races remaining on the NCTS schedule. Tundra drivers Bodine (fourth), Benson (fifth), Musgrave (seventh) and Sprague (10th) are also in the top-10 in the point standings after Talladega.

Tundra drivers Mike Wallace (17th), Josh Wise (23rd) and Jacques Villeneuve (30th) were also in the field.

The next race on the NCTS schedule is October 20 at Martinsville Speedway.

In Friday's ARCA Series race, Bill Davis Racing driver Michael Annett drove to Victory Lane in the No. 28 Camry, giving Toyota its first-ever victory in the series.

Press Conference Transcript

Press Conference Transcript - Michael Waltrip Racing Announces Sponsorship of the #00 Nextel Cup Series Car Burger King Corporation and Domino's Pizza.

Michael Waltrip
"It is not often that you see two companies within the same industry come together for primary sponsorship of a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series team. I am proud to announce, along with my lovely wife, Buffy, that Michael Waltrip Racing has brought together two of the marquee quick service brand names in the world to sponsor out #00 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Toyota Camrys beginning in 2007.... Domino's Pizza and Burger King. Now I would like to introduce you to two individuals who were instrumental in making this co-sponsorship possible, Dave Brandon - Chairman and CEO of Domino's Pizza and Denny Post - Senior Vice President and Chief Concept Officer of Burger King Corporation."

Dave Brandon
"Thanks, Michael. It's a pleasure to be here with you and Denny today to make this milestone announcement. We're excited to take our involvement with NASCAR to the next level and thrilled that we have the opportunity to do so with you and your team, who have been a trusted Domino's partner for nearly four years. Just as Michael has been taking the steps necessary to build successful NASCAR NEXTEL Cup teams, we at Domino's are taking the steps necessary to position ourselves a leader in the sport. As the world leader in pizza delivery, it's a thrill to be a part of helping Michael deliver a second NASCAR NEXTEL Cup team for 2007. The Domino's car will take the track for the first time in Daytona and will continue through the May race in Darlington. The Domino's paint scheme will also adorn the No. 00 Camry during the August race here in Michigan, which is in the backyard of our World Resource Center. We also will be the primary sponsor for five of the Chase for the NEXTEL Cup races at the end of the season."

"On behalf of Domino's team members everywhere, we want to thank Michael and his team for the three exciting years we've shared thus far and the opportunity to share many new and exciting ventures in 2007. I also want to acknowledge the great partnership we've developed with Burger King in sponsoring this great team. We look forward to an extraordinary season! It is now my pleasure to reintroduce Denny Post from the Burger King Corporation."

Denny Post
"Good Morning everyone. The King and I are very happy to be here this morning to It's great to be here today to extend our commitment to Michael and his organization and our expansion with his great team. Earlier this year we announced the Burger King No. 00 car would run in five races in 2006. This will allow the team to set the stage for a successful season next year and we're proud to play a role in that effort. "

"Looking to 2007, the Burger King car will hit the track Memorial Day weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC, and take the final regular season laps in Richmond International Raceway. Five Chase races will feature our paint-scheme, including the final race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, home to Burger King Corporation, founded in 1954 in Miami, FL."

"At Burger King, our "Have it Your Way" philosophy extends beyond the restaurant and focuses on giving customers experiences they want. This strategic alliance provides an incredible opportunity to tap into NASCAR's enormous popularity and provide racing fans and restaurant guests with more memorable experiences. We're thrilled to be here today with our partners at Michael Waltrip Racing and Domino's and look forward to an exciting season in 2007."

Michael Waltrip
"We have not determined who will drive the No. 00 Toyota Camry. All I have to say is the driver we do select better be hungry with Domino's and Burger King as his primary sponsors. As you can see by the pizzas Domino's has for you and the HAVE IT YOUR WAY cards provided by Burger King, no one will go hungry with these companies as the sponsors of the No. 00 Camry."

Q & A Portion of Press Conference

Media Member: "So does this mean that Dale Jarrett will be driving something other than the #00?"

Michael Waltrip: "We want three teams. That is our goal. We feel that the business model we put together at MWR allows us to have three Cup Series teams. We also feel that this is the best way to make the NAPA car and the Burger King/Domino's car faster as well as the third team & sponsor. We have Aaron's Sales & Lease Ownership set to run with David Reutimann in 2007 and run for the Busch Championship and we want three Cup series teams so we can stand toe-to-toe with the top organizations in our sport. Until we define the third sponsor, we are not in a position today to say who will be driving what except that of course I will drive the NAPA AUTO PARTS car.

Media Member: Michael, how are two obvious competitors able to come together on one car - as this is quite a departure for racing?

Michael Waltrip: "I will let Dave and Denny answer that, but the thing I love about this for Michael Waltrip Racing, is that these are two of the biggest names in the world they are going to adorn our racecar and they are going to make fun commercials and make a statement. By taking a first half - second half approach it allows them focus on launches of product and different promotions during the course of the year."

Dave Brandon: "We believe we are complementary to each other. Burger King brand stands for breakfast and lunch and drive up service and great convenience in that way, and Domino's is a dinner concept and we deliver. The method of delivery is something we do very differently even though we are both in the Quick Service industry. We have a great relationship with the Burger King Corporation. While we are all out there in the restaurant business, our businesses are quite different.

Denny Post: It also allows us the flexibility of focusing on two parts of our menu and our calendar. It is a great opportunity for us to focus our business and join up with some great names.

Michael Waltrip: "There is one thing I would like to point out. As we are building out Michael Waltrip Racing, Toyota is our manufacturer. Our sponsorship dollars are coming from NAPA, Burger King, Domino's, and Aaron's. We pay our driver's with our sponsorship dollars. This is not a Toyota team. This is a Domino's/Burger King car that is a Toyota and a NAPA car that is a Toyota as well. I have been preaching that Toyota did not hire Dale Jarrett and Toyota is not responsible for the moves I have been making in the garage area. This is my team with partners like Dave & Denny and NAPA and this is why things are working at Michael Waltrip Racing. If we put out a third team, the car will not say Toyota on the side of it, it will be sponsored by another corporation."

Media Member: "Where are you on getting a sponsor for that third team right now?"

Michael Waltrip: "There are a couple of companies interested in sponsoring this team and we set a deadline on ourselves on making a decision. We are building all the cars we possibly can for 2007 right now, so nothing will change at this point if we go to three cars. So mid-July is our personal deadline to decide if we will indeed have a third Cup team. I would say it is better than maybe that we will have it. We feel that that all the resources and synergies that we have by having more teams, we will make our cars faster because of that- which is ultimately the goal. To get to that this early would be a real bonus to our organization."

Three teams to field Toyota Camry in 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series

Three teams to field Toyota Camry in 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series

CONCORD, N.C. (Jan. 24, 2006) - One veteran race team with close to 20 years of stock car experience, another with an owner who has been driving race cars for more than 20 years, and a third totally new team will all be running the Toyota Camry in the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series.

Bill Davis Racing, Michael Waltrip Racing and Team Red Bull will all utilize the "Most Popular Car in America" when the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series season kicks-off next February with the Daytona 500, Toyota and teams announced today.
Bill Davis Racing has been a regular competitor in the NASCAR Cup Series since 1993, while Michael Waltrip Racing has primarily been involved in the Busch Series. Team Red Bull is new to NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, although the company has been heavily involved in worldwide motorsports.

In addition to Red Bull, other primary sponsors that will be associated with the Toyota teams are Caterpillar (Bill Davis Racing) and NAPA (Michael Waltrip Racing). Caterpillar has been associated with Bill Davis Racing for nine years and NAPA has had a relationship with Michael Waltrip for five years.

"Based on our motorsports experience, we know the importance of working with experienced teams and partners," said Jim Aust, vice president of Toyota Motorsports and president and CEO of TRD, U.S.A. "We have developed excellent relationships with Bill Davis and the Waltrip family --- and look forward to developing a similar relationship with the Red Bull team as Toyota joins one of the world's most competitive racing series."

Toyota began competing in NASCAR in the 2000 Goody's Dash Series and for the past two years has been a participant in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. In addition to the NEXTEL Cup Series, Toyota will enter the Busch Series next season and continue to compete in the Craftsman Truck Series.

"Next year -- 2007 -- marks Toyota's 50th anniversary in America and seeing a Toyota Camry -- America's best-selling car -- in the NEXTEL Cup Series will be a great way to celebrate this milestone," said Kim McCullough, TMS corporate manager, marketing communications. "The response to Toyota's involvement in the Craftsman Truck Series has been very positive, and we look forward to building on that acceptance at the next levels -- in both NEXTEL Cup and Busch racing."

The Toyota Camry has been the best-selling car in America for four straight years and eight of the past nine years. Assembled at Toyota's Georgetown, Ky. plant, more than six million Camry models have been sold in the United States since its debut 23 years ago. The all-new 2007 Camry, a complete redesign from previous models, was recently introduced at the North American Auto Show in Detroit.

Bill Davis has been involved in NASCAR competition for 18 years. During his tenure as a NASCAR team owner, the Arkansas-native has worked with some of the sport's top drivers and claimed numerous honors, including the 1991 Busch Series Rookie-of-the-Year award with driver Jeff Gordon, and a 2002 Daytona 500 win with driver Ward Burton. Bill Davis Racing has 18 victories, 38 poles, 104 top-five finishes and 257 top-10 finishes as a NASCAR team owner.

In 2004, Bill Davis Racing partnered with Toyota to field three Tundras in the Craftsman Truck Series. In two seasons participating in the NCTS, the Bill Davis Racing drivers have combined for two wins, 11 poles, 22 top-five finishes and 41 top-10 finishes. The team will again field three Tundras in the series in 2006.

Michael Waltrip, a two-time Daytona 500 winner, formed his own race team nearly a decade ago in Sherrills Ford, N.C. Established primarily as a Busch Series team -- where Waltrip would collect four wins and six poles -- the organization began fielding cars in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series on a limited basis over the past few years. In order to better prepare for the expansion of his team, Waltrip announced plans last August to develop, design and create 'Waltrip Racing World' -- an interactive, high-tech race shop that will feature more than 125,000 square-feet of shop space, buildings and housing when completed.

Team Red Bull will be based in Mooresville, N.C., and stock car veteran Marty Gaunt will serve as the team's general manager. Although Red Bull is new to NASCAR NEXTEL Cup competition, the world's leading energy drink company has been increasingly involved in global motorsports over the last decade. Red Bull owns and operates two Formula One teams -- Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso -- plus is an active supporter of action and adventure sports, music and culture, along with motorsports.

In 2004, Toyota became a regular competitor in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) -the first new manufacturer in elite NASCAR competition in more than 50 years. In its inaugural NCTS season, a Toyota Tundra recorded four wins, five pole positions and 25 top-five finishes.

During last year's Craftsman Truck Series campaign, four Toyota drivers -- Todd Bodine (five), Mike Skinner (two), David Reutimann (two) and Brandon Whitt (one) -- combined for nine Tundra wins and Toyota drivers recorded 13 poles. This season, Toyota will again field five teams and nine drivers in the NCTS, including defending series champion Ted Musgrave.

Toyota made its initial move into the NASCAR ranks in 2000 with the introduction of a V6-powered Celica in the Goody's Dash Series. In three years in the Dash Series, Robert Huffman won 10 races and earned Toyota it's first-ever NASCAR championship when he claimed the 2003 driver's title.

Powering all of Toyota's American racing programs is TRD, U.S.A. (Toyota Racing Development) in Costa Mesa, Calif., and High Point, N.C. A subsidiary of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., TRD serves as the North American racing arm for design, development and assembly of Toyota's factory racing engines. In addition, TRD is also the source of high-performance aftermarket products for both street performance and grassroots racing Toyotas. From the race track to the aftermarket product segment, TRD plays a key role in providing Toyota with an enhanced performance image.

Toyota has eight manufacturing facilities in the United States -- a total of 14 plants in North America. With a strong manufacturing presence in the country, it's no surprise that more than half the Toyota vehicles sold in the United States are built here -- using many American-sourced parts. Toyota's overall commitment translates into manufacturing plants, sales and marketing operations, and research and design facilities throughout the United States, where Toyota directly employs more than 32,000. Since 1986, the company has built more than 12 million cars and trucks in the U.S. As one of the world's leading automakers, Toyota offers a full range of models from mini-vehicles to sedans to large trucks. Manufacturer plans to field Toyota Camrys starting with 2007 season

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 23, 2006) - The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) and Toyota announced Monday the manufacturer's plans to expand its NASCAR program by competing in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series and the NASCAR Busch Series starting in 2007, fielding the Toyota Camry model.

The expansion will follow three years of Toyota competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and will result in all three of NASCAR's national series having four manufacturers competing, as Toyota will join Chevrolet, Dodge and Ford.

"NASCAR welcomes Toyota to the greatest auto racing in the world," said NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France, who made the announcement on Monday at NASCAR'S Research and Development Center in Concord, N.C.

"Toyota's entry into the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series and the NASCAR Busch Series is good for drivers, teams and the fans. This move provides for even more intense competition on the track between drivers and manufacturers, which will provide more excitement and fan interest. Toyota's entry also provides more options for drivers and teams, which will increase the competition between manufacturers."

"It's a great pleasure to announce Toyota's entry into the NASCAR NEXTEL

Cup and Busch Series with the Toyota Camry," said Dave Illingworth, senior vice president and chief planning and administrative officer for Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.

"Next year - 2007 - will be a special year for Toyota in more ways than one. Toyota will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in the United States, and we will be joining the NASCAR NEXTEL CUP Series, America's premier racing series. Toyota has been an important part of the U.S. motorsports community for almost 25 years. We've competed and won in different series and on tracks across America. Toyota drivers and teams have won championships in a variety of different series. But, if you want to compete against the best, in America that means NASCAR.

"We look forward to February of 2007 when the green flag waves to start the Daytona 500 and the starting lineup features the Toyota Camry."

Illingworth, who joined France in making the announcement, said more information - regarding possible sponsor and driver lineups - will be released Tuesday night, during a media gathering at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord.

This year, Toyota is celebrating its 24th year of participation in American professional auto racing. Toyota drivers and teams have won championships in IMSA, CART, IRL and off-road racing. They have won such historic events as the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring, the Baja 1000 and the Indianapolis 500.

Toyota moved into NASCAR in 2000, fielding the Celica model in the NASCAR Goody's Dash Series. The following season, Robert Huffman gave Toyota its first NASCAR victory, at Kentucky Speedway. In 2003, Huffman gave Toyota its first NASCAR championship by capturing the NASCAR Goody's Dash title.

In 2004, Toyota entered the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with the Tundra - in the process becoming the first new manufacturer in one of NASCAR's top series in more than 50 years. In two seasons of NASCAR Craftsman Truck competition, Tundra drivers have recorded 13 victories and 18 poles.

Since 1986, Toyota has built more than 12 million vehicles in the United States. More than 6.5 million Camrys have been sold in the United States and it has been the best-selling car in America for eight of the past nine years. Camrys are built at Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Georgetown, KY.

Honda Produces 20 Millionth Automobile in North America

Honda Produces 20 Millionth Automobile in North America

Honda produced its 20 millionth automobile in North America based on January 2009 production totals to be released this week. Honda began local auto production in 1982, in Marysville, Ohio.*

"The production of 20 million cars and light trucks in North America was achieved through the ultimate in teamwork by our suppliers, business partners and dealers working together with Honda associates to create joy for our customers," said Tsuneo Tanai, president & CEO of Honda of America Mfg., Inc. and head of Honda's production operations in North America, covering the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

In a letter thanking the more than 34,000 associates working in the company's manufacturing, sales, marketing and R&D operations in North America, Tanai said: "Most importantly, we owe our deepest appreciation to our customers, as none of our accomplishments would be possible without the loyalty they have shown to their Honda and Acura products."

Consistent with Honda's commitment to produce products close to the customer, more than 77% of all Honda and Acura vehicles sold in the U.S. in 2008, were produced in North America- a total of 1,421,427 units. Further, 11 different models are produced exclusively in North America- the Honda Accord Coupe, Civic Coupe and Si, Civic GX natural gas vehicle, Odyssey, Pilot, Element and Ridgeline and the Acura TL, MDX, RDX and CSX (Canadian exclusive model).

Honda has four U.S. automobile plants in Marysville and East Liberty, Ohio; Lincoln, Alabama; and Greensburg, Indiana; two plants in Alliston, Ontario, Canada; and a plant in Jalisco, El Salto, Mexico.

In addition to the 20 million cars and light trucks, Honda's cumulative North American production of automobile engines exceeds 18.4 million units, mostly in Ohio and Alabama, with automatic transmission production now exceeding 13 million units at plants in Ohio and Georgia.

Honda currently partners with more than 620 North American suppliers, including 545 in the U.S., and purchased more than $19.5 billion in parts and materials from its North American suppliers in 2008.

Honda also continues to grow its automobile export program, including both finished vehicles and component parts sets, such as Honda's U.S.-made engines and components sourced from U.S. suppliers. From the start-up of automobile exports in 1987 through 2008, Honda exported 922,668 vehicles made in North America to world markets.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment in 1959 of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., Honda's first overseas subsidiary. Honda began U.S. motorcycle production in Ohio in 1979, and U.S. automobile production in 1982. The company has invested more than $10.6 billion in its North America operations, including 16 major manufacturing facilities employing more than 34,000 associates, to produce Honda and Acura automobiles, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, personal watercraft, lawn mowers, general-purpose engines, and other power equipment products.

Acura Motorsports to Enter LMP1 Class in 2009 American

Acura Motorsports to Enter LMP1 Class in 2009 American
Le Mans Series Season
De Ferran, Patrón Highcroft Teams To Field ARX-02a Cars In Premier Series Class, Lowe's Fernandez Team To Continue Racing Acura In LMP2 Division In 2009

'Acura Advance' is the slogan for Honda Motor's luxury and performance models.

In the motorsports world, Acura is also advancing - to the top level of sportscar racing in 2009.

Acura Motorsports will enter the LMP1 class in the 2009 American Le Mans Series.

Acura's entry into the most powerful and technically advanced division in ALMS will feature two Acura ARX-02a prototype sports cars developed by Honda Performance Development (HPD).

Acura officials made the 2009 announcement in front of a standing-room-only media conference on Aug. 29 in Detroit.

De Ferran Motorsports and Patrón Highcroft Racing will campaign the new Acura LMP1 cars, which are being designed in concert with Wirth Research in England. Testing of the new Acura LMP1 cars began in November, while the new Acura machines will debut in the 55th annual 12 Hours of Sebring, set for March 21, 2009.

In addition to fielding two LMP1 ARX-02a cars in 2009, Acura will continue in the LMP2 category with the Lowe's Fernandez team.

Acura entered sports-car racing in 2007 by fielding Acura-powered LMP2 prototype cars on Michelin tires for Andretti Green Racing, Highcroft Racing and Lowe's Fernandez Racing in the 12-race ALMS. The three-car contingent marked the first factory motorsports program in Acura's 20 year history. De Ferran Motorsports was added to the Acura lineup in 2008.

In 23 starts, the Acura machines, with 3.4-liter, V-8 powerplants, scored seven LMP2 class victories, including overall wins by Patrón Highcroft Racing at Lime Rock Park last July and Andretti Green Racing at Detroit in August. Acura cars also recorded six overall pole positions.

The Acura Motorsports program featured the first racing engine and chassis primarily designed and developed by HPD, Honda's wholly-owned racing subsidiary. It also marked the first time HPD had taken on concurrent motorsports programs, supporting teams in both the American Le Mans Series and the IndyCar Series.

De Ferran returned to active competition last year by forming de Ferran Motorsports, with the former Indy 500 winner and multiple open-wheel series champion serving as both driver and team owner. The legendary Brazilian racing figure recently served as Sporting Director for the Honda Formula One racing team before establishing his new ALMS team. De Ferran and young star Simon Pagenaud drove the No. 66 Panasonic ELS Surround Acura ARX-01b in eight 2008 races.

The Patrón Highcroft Racing team, owned by team principal Duncan Dayton, was the most successful of the Acura entries in 2008, taking the overall and LMP2 win at Lime Rock in July and LMP2 class victories at Long Beach, Road America and Mosport, Ontario, Canada. Co-drivers David Brabham and Scott Sharp guided the No. 9 Patrón Highcroft Racing Acura ARX-01b to all four victories.

Lowe's Fernandez Racing campaigns the No. 15 Lowe's Acura ARX-01b prototype with drivers Adrian Fernandez and Luis Diaz of Mexico. Lowe's Fernandez Racing, formed in the fall of 2000 by Fernandez and motorsports veteran Tom Anderson, has claimed victories in the Champ Car (CART), IndyCar (IRL) and Grand-Am Series.

Acura's racing operation reflects the manufacturer's position as a leader in automotive performance and technology, and the American Le Mans Series provides an arena for competition against other car makers in the demanding sport of endurance racing. Acura Automobile Division was launched on March 27, 1986.

Honda Performance Development (HPD) was founded in 1993. Located in Santa Clarita, Calif., HPD is the technical operations center for Honda and Acura's high-performance racing cars and engines. HPD coordinates Honda's participation in the IndyCar Series and Acura's activities in American Le Mans Series.

QUOTES ON ACURA'S 2009 LMP1 SPORTS CAR PROGRAM:

JOHN MENDEL
Executive Vice President of Auto Operations
for American Honda Motor Company, Inc.

"Since launching the Acura American Le Mans Series program in 2007, our goal has always been to compete at the highest level of sports-car racing. The LMP1 class of the American Le Mans Series represents the pinnacle of sports-car racing in this country, from both a competitive and technological standpoint.

As we prepare to elevate Acura to Tier One status among luxury road cars, we feel it only appropriate to make this move to the uppermost level of American Le Mans Series competition, as well."

ERIK BERKMAN
President, Honda Performance Development (HPD)

"This is the logical next step in our business plan. The Acura sports-car program has energized HPD's associates and met numerous objectives during its first two seasons of American Le Mans Series competition. We feel we are fully prepared to take on this new challenge."

GIL DE FERRAN
Team Owner, de Ferran Motorsports

"I am delighted with our team's relationship with Acura and my longstanding involvement with Honda, and we have taken another important step with this announcement. We are a young team, but de Ferran Motorsports has a great depth of experience and talent within its ranks. We are driven to produce a contending Acura Motorsports sports-car program. We look forward to the challenge of competing in the LMP1 class and putting Acura at the forefront of American Le Mans Series racing."

DUNCAN DAYTON
Team Owner, Patrón Highcroft Racing

"Our relationship with Acura and HPD has been extremely beneficial to Patron Highcroft Racing and we are proud to have been chosen as a part of Acura's new LMP1 program for 2009. We have had a very collaborative effort with Acura, HPD and Wirth Research over the past two seasons. We started with a good business plan and have been competitive throughout our ALMS program. Adding Patrón as our major sponsor strengthened our Acura program, and we had a very successful 2008 campaign. Now, moving to the LMP1 class, we expect to continue the progress that we began two years ago. The 2009 season will be exciting for Acura and the Patrón Highcroft Racing team."

ADRIAN FERNANDEZ
Team Co-owner, Lowe's Fernandez Racing

"We have had an outstanding sports-car program with Acura the last two years. We started with the Lola chassis and the move to the Acura car was a great improvement for our Lowe's Fernandez team. Now, we will concentrate on racing for the LMP2 point championship, as well as winning many races. Our luck hasn't been with us as much as we would like. But our association with Acura has been outstanding and we are pleased to be continuing our relationship. We want to be right in the thick of the LMP2 title chase in 2009."
